Earlier this year, Fyre Festival had two documentaries made by Netflix and Hulu, which portrayed the epic downfall of the event. By now, the shock and horror has died down.
But, there’s a festival in Europe called VestiVille that has caught some recent attention!
This past weekend, Belgium’s VestiVille Festival had a very similar disaster to that of Fyre Festival.
People from all over Europe were flying in and spending cash on tickets, accommodation, food and flights. They were all excited to get to the 3-day music festival which was supposed to take place in Lommel.
An Impressive Line-Up Advertised For Vestiville
The festival boasted an impressive lineup which was shared all over social media. The line-up featured some big names in the music industry. ASAP Rocky, Migos, Cardi B, Meek Mill and Future were all set to perform at the festival…
However, the event quickly took a 360 when artists started dropping out on Friday, June 28, which was supposed to be the opening day of the festival
It all started when A$AP Rocky wrote in a tweet:
“I won’t be performing today due to security and infrastructure concerns which relate to the production of the show,”
Shortly after the tweet, festival ticket holders were told that VestiVille has been cancelled.
Ja Rule, who was deeply involved with Fyre Festival, was also set to play VestiVille on the Saturday. This makes many believe it was more than just a coincidence…
More to the story…
The Brussels Times reported that three of the organizers behind VestiVille have been charged with fraud after they provided false invoices. They allegedly forged documents and were involved in laundering money.
Suppliers to the festival were reportedly unpaid up until the moment the festival was set to kick off.
As a result of all these fails, VestiVille is now being compared to Fyre Fest from fooled attendees and their reactions on social media say it all…
