Stormzy has made history at Glastonbury as he took the Pyramid Stage this past weekend.
He was the first black British artist to ever headline the popular music festival and became the second youngest solo artist to perform, at 25 years of age.
David Bowie still holds the title as he headlined the event at 24 back in 1971.
It’s not the only reason Stormzy’s making headlines
The British rapper also wore a unique stab-proof vest during his set which got some attention. The vest was later revealed to be created by Banksy.
The anonymous street artist and activist shared on his Instagram about the custom vest he created. It features the Union Jack which ispainted on the front.
You’ll never know what this means to me. I feel like I am dreaming this is all a dream. Honoured, grateful, thank you, I don’t have any words for this. ❤️? Tears of joy” Stormzy said in the post.
The vest is a reference to the knife crime crisis in Britain which Stormzy has rapped about in the past.
The artist also took the opportunity to chat about the ongoing racial inequality in their justice system. The post even caught the attention of Labour Party politician David Lammy.
Glastonbury Festival took place in Worthy Farm in the UK this weekend with more than two hundred thousand people making their way down to Somerset where they got to enjoy headline performances from Stormzy, The Killers, The Cure and so much more!
