Pioneer DJ have announced the DDJ-200, a new controller for their WeDJ app, which is the first app that will stream from Beatport’s catalogue.

The controller is built for beginners who are curious about DJing and sounds like its pretty easy to use.

At a competitive price of US $149, it comes with built-in tutorials and is compatible with various music streaming services.

It can also pair with your smartphone, tablet, or laptop. Its iOS- and Android-compatible, supports Bluetooth, and will work with your iTunes library. It can access Spotify Premium, Deezer, Beatport LINK, and SoundCloud Go+ via DJ-specific apps such as djay, edjing Mix, rekordbox, as well as WeDJ.

The DDJ-200 Features

The controller has 2 channels, with 2 mini jog wheels. It has 16 performance pads in total, two faders as well as a crossfader.

It also has a 3-band EQ and a single FX knob, with assignable FX per channel.

At the back of it, there’s a single USB port. The controller doesn’t feature any audio outputs, so you will have to make do with the outputs of whatever device you’re using.

iPhone Users Score More

WeDJ is Pioneer DJ’s app for mobile DJing, and because of this, DDJ-200 incentivizes users for making use of it over other options. For example, users of WeDJ for iPhone with the DDJ-200, any feature that normally incurs in-app billing, like extra effects, may be used for free!

The tutorial feature which helps users make the most of the controller and app through videos and guides, is also only offered within WeDJ for iPhone.

So even though WeDJ is also available for Android, it looks like these extra benefits only apply if you use the iPhone version.
