The countdown to Ultra Abu Dhabi has begun!
With just a couple of weeks to go, we thought we’d chat to one of the headliners who’ll be taking the stage at the festival. We chatted to American musician, record producer and DJ, Niles Hollowell-Dhar, better known by his stage name KSHMR.
Here’s what he had to say:
What do you enjoy most about being in the music industry and what do you hate most?
I enjoy getting to make music every day, that’s what I always wanted to do. I’m not a big fan of the business side of the music industry or how money can distort your own instincts and distort everything really.
You’ve performed in many different destinations and venues. What has been your favorite location and destination to perform in?
I think my favorite is Sunburn in Goa for its sentimental value. My Grandpa came on stage with me when I performed before passing away several years later. It was a chance for us to bond and a chance for him to be a superstar which was a status that he boasted until his last days.
You’ll be performing at Ultra Abu Dhabi next month. What can ticket holders expect to hear from you?
You can expect a show that’s filled with world, middle eastern, and Indian influence, the songs I am known for and the story telling that I am known for as well.
If you didn’t get into the music business at all, what would you be doing right now?
I like developing things like apps and websites and thinking of ideas of things that have want in society. I’m interested in many things and how to do them efficiently so I’m able to see where there is a missing piece or tool that could be useful.
I’d probably spend my life looking for the missing pieces and how I could solve them in some way.
As an award-winning musician, record producer and DJ – you have a pretty hectic schedule – what do you do to unwind?
I have two dogs, I like taking them to the park and going on walks with them . I like going to movies with my friends, playing video games, and going to the gym.
