MoBlack, the force behind one of the world’s leading Afro-House music labels is making his way to the Radisson Blu Rooftop this week, joining the House of Afrika & Vibe Series colaboration

We recently got the chance to ask MoBlack some questions about his intriguing career. Here’s what he had to say:

When did you start your musical journey- and what/who were your early passions and influences?

Music has been my passion since I was a child. I’ve been influenced by all kind of music: electronic music, house music but also funky, jazz, soul, blues, rock, world music, rap and hip hop. I started my own music journey only 5 years ago when I created my label.

Africa is clearly a big part of your journey. In which ways has it impacted your musical career?

I lived in Ghana (West Africa) for 10 years. In 10 years I got influenced and inspired by african local artists and producers. My vision was to combine the more traditional african voices & native instruments with electronic music. Sure that this powerful blend could conquer the young generations of all over the world. Therefore the idea to create a label to support my vision and to support local artists.

It’s clear that you have passion for giving voice to new talent. What advice you would give to any up and coming DJs?

My advice to the up and coming DJs is to find their own style, authentic and original. It about creating waves and not to follow them.

What are your thoughts on the Dubai House music scene?

I have been in Dubai as visitor more than 10 years ago and I remember the house music scene was already awesome. So, Im super excited now to be in Dubai for the first time as a DJ with the possibility to play the music that I stand for.

With such an extremely hectic schedule, what do you to unwind?

I love what I do so for me it’s enough just to have a short afternoon nap to recover the energy during the day and to sleep well at the night.

What can we expect to see from MoBlack in the future?

As MoBlack (DJ & producer) expect more of my own original productions, collaborations and remixes for my label and for others. As MoBlack Records expect some big releases (from known and unknown artists) and some hot brand new remix projects set to fire the dance floors of all over the world.

Don’t forget to check out MoBlack at HOUSE of AFRIKA & Vibe Series on Thursday 7th March! Thanks for sharing with us MoBlack!
