This Greta Thunberg death metal story has really been a journey!
Last week a YouTuber, John Mollusk, dubbed over the Swedish environmental activist’s UN speech, basically turning her words into death metal vocals.
The video has gone viral, being viewed more than 4 million times.
Greta Thunberg has clearly watched it too and endorses it!
“I have moved on from this climate thing… From now on I will be doing death metal only !!”
Helping The Cause
John Mollusk is going even bigger. The YouTuber is releasing the track as a single in order to help Greta’s cause.
John is the drummer of New York based thrash metal band Suaka, and because of this – he is absolutely no stranger to the metal scene. He he told Rolling Stone magazine:
“When I saw her speech, I was very impressed by her passion and outrage, and the words she chose just evoked the darkness of the metal music I love: Entombed, Gojira, At the Gates, Sepultura. My personal stance is that individuals need to do their part to strive to conserve and preserve our environment.”
Together with the Swedish independent hard rock label, Despotz Records, they are releasing the track, entitled How Dare You.
All profits will be donated to Greenpeace.
Despotz Records are also initiating a social media campaign #GREENMETAL which asks metal fans all over the world to take part in the environmental movement and create history by making How Dare You make it to the billboard top 10 charts!
Despotz Records says:
”Greta says it better than neither we on this label nor any other adult so far has been able to say it, so one of the best things we can do is to use our platform for spreading her own words. We stand united with her in her quest and are grateful for a chance to contribute in any way!”
You can help Despotz and Mollusk make this happen by donating just $1.50 and downloading How Dare You via their official bandcamp.
