OH YEAH!! It’s time for the newest edition of “Boxtalk with The Boxtones” – your #1 source for up to date music news from the UAE and around the world!

This week we talk about a nice wee Boxtones gig at Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, confirmed rumours surrounding a new biopic about the late Soundgarden/ Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell (produced by Brad Pitt), and a highly anticipated new album from the legendary Muse (20 years following their first studio album). All this and more – enjoy!

If you’re on the Yas Marina Circuit for F1, and you see this Shure KSM8 wireless microphone on stage, you’ve found the right place for music! Yes it’s true…The Boxtones have landed a gig at 2019’s Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix!

Always love this time of year when musicians from all over the UAE come together to entertain the masses – from DJs to local artists as well as international megastars, you will no doubt have a blast on the Yas Marina Circuit! Not only will you get a chance to party away with after-race concert acts Marshmello, Travis Scott, Lana Del Ray and The Killers, but yours truly will be belting out tune after tune on the race final day – Sunday, December 1st thanks to the team at Stories by Zinaida! You can catch us on the Mainstage in the Main Oasis where you’ll be hearing original songs from our last 2 albums (plus a couple of new treats) until The Killers take to the Du Arena Mainstage! Can’t freakin’ wait to see these gents live and in person!

So buckle up, get your dancing shoes on and warm up those vocal chords for a weekend of roaring engines and non-stop live entertainment! Tickets still available here.

After months of controversial speculations regarding Brad Pitt producing a Chris Cornell ‘Like A Stone’ documentary with his Film 45 production company, it looks like it might actually happen! So no more “Are they serious?”, “Is this some sort of hoax?” and “Is this really happening?” as IMDB recently released more information about the documentary, which is believed to be slated for a 2021 release.

The late Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman tragically took his own life in May 2017 (can you believe 2 ½ years have passed?) and we still mourn the loss of this iconic grunge figure. Knowing Brad Pitt, who was a close friend of Chris, will do his legacy justice as he’ll focus on parts of his life, working alongside the musician’s widow Vicky Cornell and will most likely document him during his time as Soundgarden’s frontman in the 90’s. We eagerly wait to watch this epic biopic of one of the world’s greatest performers of all time!

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the band’s debut album ‘Showbiz’, the power trio Muse have recently announced the release of the deluxe box set of ‘Origin of Muse’ – literally right around the corner which is perfect for any of our readers looking for something special to give to fellow fans for Christmas!

Included is a 48-page booklet, 9 CD’s (wow that’s a lot of tunes), 4 limited edition vinyl (loving it), also in depth band interviews and never before released material – a total of 113 tracks and over 40 unreleased! That’s crazy!

Now you know what you’re getting from us this holiday season…actually, think we’ll grab a box set for ourselves instead! Take a look here.
