Now that it’s Ramadan and heating up, the Scottish-Canadian rock group The Boxtones will be spending more time indoors and spending the month entertaining themselves by watching TV, listening to music and getting creative!
There are so many tools that can help with this and in this edition of “Boxtalk with The Boxtones” the band talk about new tech from Nord Keyboards, a very cool soundtrack from the Cobra Kai series and a highly anticipated Martin Scorsese film about Bob Dylan!
1. “OUT OF THE BOX” – TECH TALK
August 2015’s “Nord Artist of the Month” Will Janssen is excited to share that the leading instrument brand Nord Keyboards have released an incredible piano monitoring system! Now all of you pianists/keyboard players can hear the optimal dynamic sounds from the electric and acoustic pianos in the Nord Piano Library in this compact package that mounts onto brackets which can either be mounted to the piano or standard microphone stands!
These active stereo speakers also feature additional auxiliary audio inputs for connecting other audio devices like a laptop or your smartphone, which is perfect for practicing. It’s safe to say that Will’s going to speak with the team at NMK Electronics Enterprises and Melody House so he can demo this new monitor system! For more info on this product, visit Nord Keyboards.
2. “MUSIC BOX” – NEW MUSIC TO CHECK OUT
Just finished watching the second season of ‘Cobra Kai’ and absolutely loved it for its story, the NON-STOP action and of course its eclectic soundtrack! The new YouTube Originals series based on the 30+ year feud between Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and Daniel Laruso (Ralph Macchio) continues from the 80’s film trilogy ‘The Karate Kid’ and takes you back to the era that brought about artists like AC/DC, Roxette and Whitesnake!
Aside from the beautifully orchestrated soundtrack we heard throughout the films, we also hear classic pop tunes like “You’re The Inspiration” by the band Chicago (remember “The Glory of Love” from Karate Kid Part 2?), Queen’s “The Show Must Go On” and the iconic tune affiliated with the original film, “Cruel Summer” by Bananarama! There’s even a newly remixed version by Kari Kimmel that ends the season on an emotional note and we can’t stop listening to it!
Stream the 35-song soundtrack and enjoy!
3. “BOX OFFICE ” – NEW MUSIC FILM
The legendary singer/songwriter Bob Dylan is about to have his story shared with the world in the officially titled ‘Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story’ directed by the one and only Martin Scorsese! Don’t forget that Scorsese gave us ‘The Last Waltz’ in 1978 (an unforgettable film depicting the final concert of The Band) which is considered by most as the best concert movie ever released! But from what we’ve heard about ‘Rolling Thunder Revue’ is that it will focus on America in 1975 with live recordings in a part-documentary and part-concert themed expose!
Watch out for this ultimate music experience on Netflix on June 12th!
