That’s right…the multi-award winning Scottish/Canadian rock band The Boxtones are back in Infusion Magazine to bring you some hot music news!

This week in ‘Boxtalk with The Boxtones’, the guys confirm the rumors surrounding the reunion of 90’s iconic rock band Rage Against the Machine, give you an update about the health of legendary frontman Dave Mustaine of Megadeth and tell you all about a jam night in Dubai worth checking out! All this and more below!

As we type/read this, we still can’t believe it’s true! The 90’s iconic political rock band Rage Against The Machine have told the world of their reunion and a series of tour dates for 2020 (including a headline slot at Coachella 2020 in California)! The band that formed in 1991, hasn’t performed together since 2011 in Los Angeles – the closest we’ve got to the original line up was in May 2016 where guitarist Tom Morello, drummer Brad Wilk and bassist Tim Commerford collaborated with Chuck D (Public Enemy) and B-Real (Cypress Hill) for Prophets of Rage.

It’s been rumored that RATM’s frontman Zack de la Rocha has been working on some solo material lately – so we’re a bit curious to see what he’ll bring to the table in 2020…a new album perhaps? If not, we have to find our way over to the States and watch this 4-piece perform all of their anthemic protest songs that catapulted them to fame and imfamy throughout the 90s! What’s your favorite RATM tune? “Testify”, “Know Your Enemy”, “Bulls on Parade”, or our personal favorite to melt faces at our shows, “Killing in the Name”?

In recent metal news, Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine underwent surgery for throat cancer, putting a hault on the band’s recording session on their upcoming studio album release (as well as being forced to take a step back from Megadeth’s Megacruise, but the band will resume touring with Five Finger Death Punch across Europe in early 2020). They are now happy to announce that Dave has finished his treatment and will be recovering for the time being (watch this space for more album news in the near future).

So I guess while in recovery mode, he has teamed up with Reverb (a marketplace for musicians to buy and sell used, vintage and new music gear online) to sell almost 150 pieces of gear/instruments (which includes acoustic & electric guitars, amps, an autographed drum machine and more). After their legendary (over 40-year) career of playing on some of the world’s biggest stages with some of the biggest names in the industry, Mustaine says, “I owe so much to my fans. If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t even have all this gear. I’d rather give it back to them than let it sit and collect dust.”

The Boxtones wish you all the best during your recovery Dave! \m/
