Scotland has always been a serious breeding ground for creativity and the duo of JD Twitch and JG Wilkes can attest to this more than most. With both Twitch and Wilkes flying solo for ten years before forming Optimo in 1997, it is worth mentioning at this point that the former ran one of Scotland¹s most illustrious club nights called Pure, a night that is charged with bringing Jeff Mills, Green Velvet and Richie Hawtin to Europe for the first time.
Since those heady days in Edinburgh, Optimo have gone on to take their place as one of the world’s foremost authorities on leftfield dance music and thrive in challenging what is acceptable in a DJ set and rightly so. From their weekly residency of the same name at world clubbing institution the Sub Club, they held court for an astonishing 13 years. What was even more incredulous was that their Optimo parties would take place every Sunday night, such was the pairs legend. Nowadays, Optimo can be found all over the world introducing crowds to mind-blowing music that was perhaps never intended to see the inside of a nightclub, but that is what Optimo do and boy do they know how.
