After launching with much gusto (and a big-name line up in the early days), Elegante has announced its closing.
The Royal Ascot club in the heart of Bur Dubai has been a bastion of hip hop, RnB and Arabic music for the last few years, and now makes way for a brand new concept and club, The Velvet Underground, which launches on Thursday December 15 with a commercial house soundtrack supplied by Sabrina Terence and the High On Heels collective, while Friday December 16 features RnB songstress Shola Ama alongside DJ Spoony. The club have put a strong emphasis on entertainment, with a troupe of fire breathers, stilt walkers and trapeze artists. The venue has been extensively refurbished, and will also give clubbers a free house drink if you present your taxi receipt to them.
