Since taking their name from a cult scene in a cult movie (the diner robbery in Pulp Fiction), Yolanda Be Cool have been A list dance music stars.

Their crossover hit, 'We No Speak Americano' destroyed dancefloors the world over, and their jackin' DJ mix of house and electro has seen them grace clubs from Ibiza to Jakarta (and a little Middle East tour including Dubai, Beirut and Muscat). We caught up with the photo-shy duo ahead of their return to Dubai at XL Beach Club on Thursday July 28...

Your Tweets make it sound like you've had an amazing summer - Ibiza, US tour and some great gigs. What have been the highlights?

Yes, we're definitely not complaining. The craziest thing is we have been going to all these amazing places, but everytime we leave Ibiza, we are torn because we are so happy here. For example, we were so happy to be in Paris on Saturday and Sunday, but at the same time, couldn't wait to get home to go to the Cadenza party hahaha.

And what's your secret to coping with the travelling?

Weird green drinks, and really bad tasting potions that apparently are full of all the good stuff that plane food and no sleep don't have.

Press-wise, in this day and age where everyone wants to know everything about you, you've covered up the biggest part of you - your faces. Was it a conscious decision to do so, or did it just come about naturally?

We consider ourselves very unattractive so thought it best to hide. We say we have great heads for radio. Alternatively, people can come to our gigs and judge for themselves

And what's next music-wise for you both - albums/remixes/singles?

All of the above. The album is nearly done and first 3 singles are ready to go. We can't wait to get them out.

You're playing at a covered beach club in Dubai with a pool in the middle, which begs the question: will you be busting out the budgie smugglers?

We are surfers at heart and surfers only wear boardies. You get bashed where we come from in budgie smugglers.

Durex presents Yolanda Be Cool, XL Beach Club, Thursday July 28. Dhs50 before 8pm, Dhs100 after.
