Just two weeks after struggling to define Dubstep, Urb Magazine's star columnist Joshua Glazer predicted this week that both 'forward thinking music fans' and the media will dump dubstep within the next 12 months, suggesting its commercial peak is just about to happen. "Since its inception, dubstep has mirrored the pop-cultural arc of drum'n'bass almost identically. And not just because the former is pretty much a half-tempo version of the other," he cogently pointed out. "However, the music will continue to thrive amongst purist communities and, surprisingly, in frat houses across the country," he predicted, adding 'trust us, d'n'b was huge on college campuses throughout the '00s." The much-hyped genre received equivocal support from drum & bass pioneer Fabio. "I like dubstep, it's got a good vibe," the still hugely popular drum & bass legend declared, "As long as they keep it real and don't sell-out like garage music did." However, even Fabio is in two minds about the dubstep sound. "Personally I like more energy," he added, "I find dubstep slightly dull." Make your mind up, Fabio.
