A spokesman from Berlin property developers Spree Urban confirmed this week's that Berlin's legendary summertime afterhours club Bar 25 is finally being forced to quit its riverside location, following years of rumours that the space was being redeveloped. "Bar25 has to leave the property this year," says BSR/ Spree Urban spokesman, Thomas Klöckner. "That's not talk, that's what we agreed on, from both sides." Created by a crew of promoters from Berlin's still massive free party/ warehouse scene, Bar 25 became an immediate success when it opened in August 2004, attracting an intoxicating crew of artists and revellers who in turn attracted thousands more keen to sample the genuinely alternative party experience the club- and crowd- created. Built largely out of wood and predominantly outdoors, the riverside space presented a radically different environment where revellers could watch plays, dance troupes and DJs, while the addition of a restaurant, hotel and even a swimming pool, meant some could stay for 3 or 4 days as the parties regularly stretched into Tuesdays.
