The Yorkshire Post labelled Mark Ronson a 'mid-Atlantic muso' and asked whether the Amy Winehouse producer is a 'musical genius' or 'over-hyped egotist winging it,' this week, in an interview feature promoting his new album Record Collection. Describing his upcoming gigs as being 'somewhere between Kraftwerk and James Brown', Ronson appeared to answer the question for them, though he notably more humble when asked how the media and wider public perceive him. "They think you're a superstar DJ who gets wheeled onto a stage, drinks a bottle of vodka and twiddles a few knobs," said Ronson, "No-one likes to think of you being in a studio solidly for 14 hours a day in order to finish a record, which is what I do all the time." The New York celebrity DJ was also characteristically patient when he was abused by Amy Winehouse on Twitter a day earlier, telling Radio 1's Newsbeat he was 'confused' by her 5am rant.
