The Atlantis The Palm venue, Sanctuary, most famed for its opulence and unique style, is fast becoming a leading contender for serious music. Showcasing a line-up of unbeatable international and local talent throughout their spectacular first 14 months, including two NYEs and an anniversary, Sanctuary are storming into 2010. Infusion chats with resident DJ and event manager Patrik Carrera about DJs, live performances and technical upgrades.You've had an amazing 2009 with artists Sasha, Erick Morillo and Armand van Helden. What are your plans to top that this year? In 2010 Sanctuary will again host an array of the world's best superstar DJs, the industry's hottest producers and resident DJs from clubbing institutions from around the globe. Alongside the best local and international DJs Sanctuary will be introducing some unique and exclusive elements and concepts to our events, offering more than a "DJ in a nightclub" experience. This includes exclusive live performers and musicians, conceptual performers, interactive experiences, over the top décor installs, all of which will collate into an unforgettable Sanctuary experience.
Sanctuary is continually making changes both big and small to keep the venue new and exciting! A lot of exciting décor and prop installations are in the works for the New Year along with some more permanent changes that will come to life in the near future! On the sound front, we have just upgraded the Terrace, fitting it with an amazing VRX system. The Velvet Room and Main Room are also soon to be receiving sound reinforcements in early 2010! Lots of new things to look forward to! Which artists are you particularly looking forward to hearing at Sanctuary? In 2010 alongside our resident DJs Patrik Carrera, Darko De Jan, Amin Golestan, Tim Kay, Mr Shef Codes, Mass Ramli, Julian Jinx, JC, Matthew Charles, Ali Ajami, Da Sendri, Aaron Brien, there is a long list of top international artists on the lineups for Movement Thursdays and Nova Fridays, all of which have been doing some big things lately both as DJs and producers. The likes of Martijn Ten Velden, David Tort, Muzikjunki, Timo Maas are all coming up in February, along with a whole bunch of new artists who will perform their debuts at Sanctuary in 2010, alongside all the big guys who graced the Sanctuary decks in 2009.
In 2009 Sanctuary hosted some amazing live performances alongside our local and guest DJs, everything from stilt walkers, percussionists, electric violinists like Mischa and Roberto Mermand, and the unforgettable soaring live vocals of Simonne Cooper. In 2010 we will be welcoming back all our live performers from 2009 and have some amazing new acts lined up including guitarist, drummers and pianists to add a special live element to fuse with the raw electronic sounds of our DJs. We are launching two concept nights in 2010, Sanctuary ROCKS and Sanctuary LIVE, both of which will host such live acts! Describe the essence of Sanctuary in 5 words?
