Music artist ‘Deen’ (previously known as Jihad) is checking in with Infusion today to tell us all about his latest ‘mixtape’ venture. Featuring a variety of artists and styles from different regions, let’s hear why he thinks it’s destined for success…

When did you decide to produce the tape and what were your inspirations for it?
I originally started working on “Unity Vol. 1” about a year ago, but it was a totally different project at that time. Initially, I created a compilation composed of artists from different regions in the United States and it was compiled of a lot of big name artists and up and coming signed artists. I was putting together this whole project while I was still based out in the UAE and I realized that a lot of these artists had already been given an opportunity for their music to be out and they were in a good position to do things for themselves.

I looked at the Middle East and all the artists that I’ve dealt with and the constant struggle they go through just to get their music heard, and that really inspired me to put together a project directed towards them and putting their music out in the global market.

How did the decision come about to bring in the other artists?
Our goal with this project was to increase unity amongst people throughout the world. I felt the best way to do that was by bringing together different artists from all over the world with one sticking point, that the music be exceptional. After listening to the finished product, I feel like we accomplished that goal and put together a very strong and cohesive project.

Which artists feature on the tape?
Representing the Middle East we have:

Deen, Perfect Storm, Sphinx, Weaponry, Arabian Knightz, Diligent Thought, Phat Mo, Young Vaughn, Madness, We7 Boys, Rone Jaxx, Punjabisha and Black Park.
Representing Japan we have:

Big Bang Theory, Butcher, Rappagariya, Lisa, and J. Stillton.

We also have major producers like Grammy nominated producer, Big 4D, and up and coming producers, Abstract Minds and Mr. Dion.

DJ wise we have some world famous DJs coming together to help push this project and those DJs are: DJ Warrior, DJ Joey Slick, DJ Stone and DJ Rocky Rock.

Why did you pick artists from the Middle East and Japan?
Being that I’ve been based out of the UAE and Los Angeles, CA for the past 2 years, it only felt right that I do something for the Middle East. I’ve also been working a lot on increasing my international presence and we’ve been working on a lot of different things with Joey Slick and his company, Joint One, so I utilized my personal relationship with them to put together something beneficial for everyone. Japan is a major market, especially when it comes to music, and I think exposure wise, it’s a really good look for everyone involved because they get to be introduced into 3 major markets: The United States, Middle East and Japan.

Where can Infusioners listen to the mix and is it free?

When is it being released?
We released the mixtape at Midnight on Oct. 14th, 2009.

What is the goal of the production?
The goal of “Unity Vol. 1 (Middle East Meets Japan”), is to bring Unity amongst artists from different regions and to help introduce them to a worldwide audience. Our goal is to not only increase unity on a musical level but also culturally and as people on the whole.

Will you release more mix tapes with other artists, and if so, whom do you have in mind?
Yes, this is the first installment in a series that we hope can shine light on different artists throughout the world and bring people together in a positive light. We’ve already started work on “Unity Vol. 2”, which is tentatively titled, “Middle East Meets Far East”, and it will include artists from the Middle East, Japan, Korea, China and the Phillipines.

Do you plan to expand upon the concept of the mix tape, to say, music videos?
Yeah, we’re looking to expand on the concept as much as possible and creating a visual to go along with the music is definitely in the plans. As of right now, we’re doing everything on our own, but, we are actively looking for some major backing to really help push what we are trying to do and propel our movement to the next level.

What a fantastic project, hats off to the mighty Deen for giving something back to the global music community. Don’t miss the mixtape release on Oct 14th, from www.facebook.com/rebellionmusic or www.myspace.com/rebellionmusic
