A learner-DJ with less than a year’s live experience, Anmol Pinto has surpassed all expectations to become a new contender on the local scene. Some typically amateur performances in local venues like Touch, were prior to a chance set rocking the decks for Pukka Up at the Apartment.
Further gigs and residencies raised his profile and he began remixing and producing podcasts and his own tracks. Most recently, his track “Jumeirah Jane” has been picked up by German house label VEMK Records. Let’s see what the boy has to say for himself…
You’re a self-confessed ex metal-head – why the change to electronic music?
I wish I could give you an interesting-life-changing-experience-story-thing but it was nothing more than a change in musical tastes. When I first started clubbing it was more to do with being sociable, getting wasted, and meeting pretty girls. That changed to me going clubbing and getting obsessive compulsive about nothing but the music. And the occasional pretty girl.
Please tell us about your most embarrassing DJ experience to date?
Pressing the ‘next track’ button on the CDJ that’s playing and not the one that’s being cued up.

Screaming my head off. Like everyone else.
Who would your ideal collaboration be with?
Deadmau5. I don’t care what people say about him/his productions. He’s a genius.
Tell us why you should be a top DJ?
Because I wash regularly. And Floss.
Technically you’re a DJ minor with only 4 months experience under your belt; what does the future hold?
Well, the day of the DJ is dead, its all about producing now. So the future holds lots of time being indoors in the studio, getting pasty and making sweet love to VSTs.
You recently remixed an Eric Clapton track (with success!) can we expect some Lionel Ritchie on the horizon?
Never say never!
Which venue is Dubai would you most like a residency with and why?
Probably Sanctuary, love the sound, the lights, the set up, everything.
Do you have any odd superstitious/fetishist/OCD-type habits before you DJ?
I like to rub my belly.
