Where are you from?
LEBANON!

How long have you been in Dubai and how does it compare to home?
I’ve been here for over 3 months now. Compared to Beirut, Dubai is a very international city and so it has to always be up-to-date with all musical styles.

What do you do and where do you do it?
I’m in a school for DJs named Backstage Music, which is in Lebanon.

What styles of music do you play? Do you like to mix up your genres?
Sure, I like to spin House, RnB and also Arabic Music.

How did you get involved in music and DJ-ing?
My love for music is everything to me. I was taught the basics of how to be a DJ at a school for DJs and then I went on to practise alone.

Did you have a musical childhood. What's your earliest memory of hearing music? Do you remember what track it was?
When I was 15 years old I found a real love for music so I started preparing myself to be a DJ, with a little help from a close friend. I really want to thank him for everything he has done for me, his name is Michael Salameh.

As for the first track, I seem to remember hearing ‘What is love’ by Haddaway.

What were the first records you ever bought? (Do you still have them?)
I remember buying ‘This is how we do it’, Montel Jordan and ‘Don’t cry for me Argentina’ by Madonna. And, of course, I still have them.

Are you still a vinyl junkie or CD / laptop man?
I usually play on Pioneer CDJs but I have no problem playing vinyl if there’s some around.

So you're at Boudoir now how's that going?
It’s going amazing. Very cool people.

Do you have any other favourite venues in Dubai?
I really like the one and Only and Club Bang; it’s set to be one of the hottest new clubs around when it opens.

What about around the world? What are your favourite clubbing destinations?
At place for me because I love House Music. My favourite clubbing destinations anywhere in the world are London and Paris.
Europe is a g

What's next for you? Any big plans for the future?
Well, like most DJs in my situation, I hope to become a producer and international DJ.

Naji is clearly a man of few words, but he knows how to make the music do the talking. Go check him out at Boudoir one of these days … or you might find him at Bang which is due to open soon at Souq al Bahar, by Burj Dubai.
